Ghana - Cashew Development Project

The Cashew Development Project is designed to address identified constraints relating to cashew development in Ghana, and it is consistent with the Government of Ghana’s development strategies of poverty reduction, food security and agricultural diversification. It is also in line with Bank Group’s strategy for the Agriculture Sector in Ghana. Cashew is a high value crop whose development comes at an opportune time when the international market prices of Ghana’s traditional export commodities continue to decline. The project should contribute to the reduction of rural poverty by focusing its support on small-scale cashew producers and processors. This should broaden the production and income base for the rural poor and with it the production of more raw materials for industrial development and export. The project comprises four components namely: i) Production Development; iii) Extension and Training; iii) Credit, and iv) Project Management.
