Description
Description | The Sogakope - Lomé Transboundary Drinking Water Transfer Project from La Volta aims to substantially increase the supply of drinking water to the large metropolitan area of Lomé, Togo as well as to rural and urban agglomerations along the transfer pipe up to Ghana. The project includes studies and consulting services for the preparation of Sogakope - Lomé drinking water transfer infrastructure. It will entail: Updating the feasibility study and 2005 Project Summary Note (PSN), conducting an environmental and social impact study as well as institutional, legal and financial structuring until signing-up, and implementation of a concession contract to carry out the transfer project in the form of a PPP. The studies also include the diagnosis of groundwater potential in Togo, job-resources potential in the project area as well as quantifying, cost estimating and planning for strengthening downstream distribution infrastructure for the transfer project. The long-term result will be an increase in access to drinking water for the populations of Togo and Ghana through the construction of drinking water supply/supply infrastructure (DWS) whose final capacity will enable drinking water production for the equivalent of approximately 4,000,000 consumers in the project area. |
