Description
Description | The Tetteh-Quarshie Circle–Mamfe Road forms part of the national highway trunk road network and connecting Greater Accra and the Eastern Regions. It aims at supporting the Governmental goals of poverty reduction and economic development by reducing the transport fares and tariffs due to lower vehicle operating costs and passenger time. The road also provides the main alternative route between Accra and Kumasi, the nation’s two major economic cities. The circle is currently a 600 meters diameter intersection situated on the extreme northern end of the Greater Accra Region. It serves as a transition from the urban to the trunk roads, thus could be considered as the beginning of the trunk road network. The project should also improve access to markets for agricultural produce and expansion in tourism. The project consists of the following outputs: i) a grade separated interchange, forming part of the 40 km rehabilitated Class 1 bitumen standard road built; ii) ten (10) km of asphalt paved rehabilitated dual carriageway road realized; iii) thirty (30) km of bituminous surface dressed rehabilitated single carriage road realized; iv) 200 senior and 600 junior staff trained. |
