Ghana - Three Roads Study

The present project concerns the three Roads Study. It’s in line with the Bank’s strategy for Ghana which aims at enhancing agricultural production, socio-economic advancement and poverty reduction and is in consonant with the Government’s Road Sector Investment Programme. The study aims to determine the technical feasibility and economic viability of improving to higher standards 353 km of roads in the Northern and Upper Western and Western Regions of Ghana. The development and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the transport sector supports Government’s efforts of transition from adjustment to accelerated growth and poverty reduction. The study should therefore facilitate the identification of appropriate rehabilitation strategies for implementation so that they positively impact their areas of influence. It should be conducted on the three roads, namely: a) Wa-Han (70-Km); b) Lawra-Tumu (116-Km) and c) Sawla-Fufulso (167-Km). The study should be conducted in the following two stages. The stage I concerns the Feasibility Study, Environmental Impact Assessment Study and Impact on Poverty Reduction and Gender Study. The stage II is related to the Detailed Engineering Designs, Cost Estimates and Preparation of Tender Documents for the above-mentioned roads.
