Description | The Ghatkopar STP is a sewage treatment plant with a capacity to treat 337 million litres of sewage per day using Sequential Batch Reactor technology. It includes tertiary treatment for 170 MLD of sewage to improve wastewater quality before discharge. The project also involves upgrading the adjoining Ghatkopar pumping station with civil and electrical works, mechanical equipment replacement, and installation of higher-capacity pumps. The project aims to improve coastal water quality and marine biodiversity, benefiting residents of Ghatkopar, Govandi, Mankhurd, and Chembur. The existing plant provides only primary treatment, while the new facility will provide full secondary and partial tertiary treatment. |
