Giant Nuclear-Powered Container Ship

The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has approved the concept of a giant container ship equipped with two small modular reactors developed by the South Korean institute KRISO. The ship has a capacity of 15,000 TEU and uses Molten Salt Reactors (MSR) as its primary power source, operating under low pressure to enhance safety. The design includes an energy storage system, increased cargo space due to the absence of traditional fuel tanks, and safety features for the crew. The project is in collaboration with Samsung Heavy Industries and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), with ongoing work on a special reactor called MARINA and detailed engineering to integrate all systems into the ship's hull.
