The Gigaland data center project proposes six data centers, two electrical substations, and a water treatment plant on 200 acres near Lucky Hill and Strodes Mill roads in Remington. The project involves rezoning over 159 acres to business park land and about 43 acres to rural agricultural land, with a waiver requested for access from Lucky Hill Road. The Fauquier County Planning Commission has recommended denial of the project for the second time in 13 months, citing concerns over health, safety, and quality of life, despite the developer reducing the project's scale by more than 50%. The application will proceed to the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors for a final decision.
