Description | US-based Pacific Energy Group, through its subsidiary Eleris Energy Ltd, will build an initial 1,000MWac grid-integrated solar power hub on Swarno Dweep Island in Noakhali district, Bangladesh. The project, costing $1.4 billion, can be expanded to 2,000 MWac or more and aims to support Bangladesh's renewable energy goals under the new RE Policy 2025. It includes next-generation solar modules from LONGi, port facilities, a fiber reinforced polymer barrier system, battery energy storage system, and high-voltage transmission lines. The project is part of a public-private partnership with the Bangladesh Army Welfare Trust under a Build-Own-Transfer framework and will also involve a 500MWdc solar panel manufacturing plant near Dhaka. |
