Description

FICX 2021 & 2022 project comprises 6 main activities: -The 59 & 60 Gijón International Film Festival (19-27 Nov 2021 & 11-19 Nov 2022) -The V & VI FICX Pro industry days, (22-25 Nov 2021 & 14-17 Nov 2022) -FICXPlus (year-long events) -FICX For Kidz (year-long film literacy actions) -FICX.TV (digital contents, 160K+ views in 2020) -FICX the Networks! (actions within European/national/regional/local networks) Ours is a FIAPF-Specialized event qualifying for the US and Spanish Academy Awards and belonging to the Europa Film Festivals network. In 2019 & 2020 our Festival set records on on-site (91,000+) and online (160,000+ views) audience and box office figures (all-time maximum in 2019). European filmmaking has become again the cornerstone of the FICX activities, with 87% of European co-productions and 28 different MEDIA countries in the 2020 Festival. The FICX prioritizes the work of renowned and upcoming continental talents within all its activities, with special attention to peripheral countries and gender equality. For our 59th Festival we have confirmed the Spanish premiere of the latest works by Virgil Vernier, Catherine Corsini, Nadav Lapid, Radu Jude or Maria Speth. Last year 170 accredited professionals took part in our FICX Pro industry days (4,000+ visitors so far). In 2021 and 2022 our FICXPlus programme is expanding exponentially (300+ yearly screenings in the region + open-air summer screenings), we have started a new and ambitious activity (FICX Academy) to be completed in 2022 within our FICX For Kidz Programme as part of a comprehensive plan (open to young creators) to promote audiovisual creativity which also includes (for the very first time) cash projects within the V & VI FICX Pro editions. FICX the Networks! is also developing actions including a new partnership with the San Sebastian IFF (2021) + national circulation network (2022) + cash awards for European films (2021) + pitching sessions (2021) + An European training programme (2022).
