GILMAN SPRINGS ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT

Limits: State Route 79 to 1 mile South of State Route 60 Length: Approximately 9 miles District: 5 Communities: Gilman Hot Springs, Laborde Canyon, Eden Hot Springs, Jack Rabit Trail, BadlandsThe County of Riverside Transportation Department is proposing to resurface approximately 6 miles of Gilman Springs Road and microsurface approximately 3 miles from State Route 79 to 1 mile south of State Route 60. Gilman Springs Road is classified as an Arterial Highway in the County of Riverside’s General Plan. Gilman Springs Road is currently 32 feet wide with dike along various segments of the roadway. The proposed project will include overlaying the entire roadway width with Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt (RHMA) over Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). Additionally in areas with severe distress, the roadway will be removed and placed back with HMA before the overall overlay of the roadway. The project will also include: · Microsurfacing of the roadway · Construction of some driveways, driveway tie-ins, and side street tie-ins · Reconstruction and/or construction of asphalt concrete dike, over-side drains, and down drains · Placement safety edge and shoulder backing · Replacement of guardrails and end treatments · Removal of existing thermoplastic markings, painted stripes, and reflective markers · Striping of roadway, including pavement markers, reflectors, and rumble stripes · Replacement of signs and detector loops No additional right-of-way will be required to construct the proposed improvements. The project will remain within the existing footprint and will raise the road profile by 0.27 feet in the resurfacing areas.
