Description | The development objective of the Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment and Livelihoods for Human Capital Project for Zambia is to promote human capital development and productivity among poor and vulnerable girls and women, while strengthening adaptive social protection (SP) delivery systems. The project comprises of four components. The first component, foundational social cash transfer (SCT) and nutrition will ensure the continuity of the foundational SCT program for a cash plus approach, with complementary activities for improved nutrition outcomes. It consists of following sub-components: (i) nutrition-sensitive foundational SCT; and (ii) nutrition-specific activities for demand creation and service provision. The second component, keeping girls in school and beyond will support human capital and economic aspirations of young girls by supporting their educational attainment and transition from secondary school to tertiary education or work. The third component, supporting women’s livelihoods for climate-smart productive inclusion will aim to transform household-based subsistence activities to more productive and profitable enterprises. The fourth component, institutional strengthening and systems building for cash plus delivery will ensure continued effective and accountable delivery of social protection (SP) services and achievement of project results, investments will be provided to strengthen adaptive SP systems and institutional capacities. |
