Gitsegukla Indian Band - Gitsegukla Community Kitchen Retrofit

The project will complete improvements to the community kitchen at the Gitsegukla Community Hall and elementary school. The kitchen increases food security in the community and also is a place where teaching traditional food preparation and supply of meat programs can take place. The project will deliver breakfast and lunch programs to the elementary school and staff as well as teach traditional cooking methods, host feasts and potlaches. The project will also install a generator to ensure that backup power is available during outages, keeping the freezers running and in turn the food safe. The project works include: - design and engineering; - construction of a commercial kitchen; - interior renovation including framing, doors, fittings, fixtures; - gas line installation and hookup; - utilities installation; - electrical, plumbing and mechanical; - installation of a backup generator; and, - all related works.
