Description
Description | Core problem Insufficient funds to cover the operating costs of the most important seed banks and inefficient use of funds. Module objective The aim of the project is to contribute to long-term food security through the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources. To this end, the existing World Trust Fund for Crop Diversity will be provided with FC funds. Key outputs Capital gains generated from Phase III will primarily benefit the operation of selected national and, where appropriate, regional seed banks. Target group The target group are the users of the supported seed banks. Preserving the global good of crop diversity serves to ensure food security for the world population. It therefore represents the target group in the broader sense. Contribution to the national implementation of Agenda 2030 (not in the MV) The project therefore contributes to the goals of 1 permanently ending poverty in all its forms everywhere, 2 ending hunger and creating food security, 3 promoting health and well-being for all, 13 taking action to combat climate change and 15 protecting ecosystems and halting biodiversity loss for sustainable development and thus to the implementation of Agenda 2030. |
