Description

The Women's and Children's Health Tech Fund (WCHTF) is a structured impact investment fund. Germany committed USD 20 million to the June tranche of the fund in 2021 and 2022 via KfW. This catalytic tranche mobilized further funds, primarily from private investors. The WCHTF thus reached a fund volume of USD 90.3 million at the close of subscription. The aim of the WCHTF is to invest in around ten strategically aligned young companies and start-ups that are intended to bring newly developed health products and technologies to market that reach women, children and young people in low- and middle-income countries equally and at affordable prices. The fund is managed by the Canadian company Cross-Border Impact Ventures, one of the few fund managers led by women in the world. The fund has a term of up to twelve years and aims to improve 8 million lives in low- and middle-income countries and save 400,000 lives.
