Description
Description | In 2012, the non-profit Global Health Investment Corporation (GHIC) invested FZR funds of EUR 10 million in the first social impact fund in the field of global health research related to vulnerable population groups in developing and emerging countries (LMIC). Due to the success of the GHIF to date in terms of both the return prospects and the impact, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation initiated a follow-up fund. The Adjuvant Global Health Technology Fund (Adjuvant GHTF) builds on these successes and the wealth of experience of the GHIF and is intended to contribute to improving global health as a social impact investment fund. The fund provides equity and debt capital for up to 20 young, innovative companies that use it to develop or improve health products and technologies in order to reach affected population groups in LMIC in particular. The total volume of the fund is USD 300 million. Germany provided financing of EUR 20 million in 2019. GHIC invested these in the target fund Adjuvant GHTF in subordinated B shares in order to strengthen Germany's anchor role in the area of structured funds for global health innovations. |
