Description | GlobalWafers Co. has officially opened its advanced semiconductor wafer facility in Sherman, Texas. The facility is the company's most advanced and fully integrated plant, created with the help of the CHIPS Act. The project has created 180 permanent jobs to date, with projections to reach 650 by the end of 2028. The CHIPS program invested more than $400 million in this U.S. operation. The facility aims to fill a key vulnerability in the U.S. supply chain and build a more self-sufficient local semiconductor ecosystem. GlobalWafers also announced plans to expand its U.S. investment by an additional $4 billion, reaching a total of $7.5 billion, by adding phases 3 and 4 to its existing commitment in Texas. |
