Description | The Eolo wind project was a 44 MW wind facility to be located in about 125 km south of Managua, Nicaragua. The project was sponsored by Globeleq Generation Limited, the UK-based project developer. The project received a 20 year PPA to sell power to the utility, privately owned Distribuidora Electricidad de Sur S.A (DISSUR) and Distribuidora Electricidad de Norte S.A. (DISNORTE). Total project cost has been estimated here as USD 116 million. This estimate is taken from the size of the debt package led by the Dutch Bank FMO (USD 91.5 million), and the extent of coverage provided by MIGA (USD 25 million), with the purpose of covering the equity stake in the project.
