Description

Description

The $245 million, 208-MW, Godavari Basin Gas-Fired Power Plant is being developed by Spectrum Power Generation Ltd, a consortium of Spectrum Technologies (US), Jaya Food Industries (India), and state-owned National Thermal Power Corp. A power purchase agreement was signed with the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board. Through a fuel supply agreement with the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), natural gas will be provided from a newly-discovered field near the project site. The developers have also contracted for a two-week backup supply of naphtha. Rolls Royce Industrial Power Group was the contractor and Westinghouse Electric is supplying turbines for the project. The project is notable in that it lacks guarantees from the Government of India, but relies on a foreign exchange guarantee from the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC). A 400-MW extension is being considered. None None
