Economic/Social Impact of the Project 1.?LOCATION- Godhna, Janjgir District, Chhattisgarh 2.?Ultimate Plant Capacity - 1600 MW -[2 X 800 MW units ] 3.?Project Cost -Estimated project cost is Rs.11000 Crore, out of which Rs. 212.13 Crore has already been spent. 4.?WATER ALLOCATION- 52,000,000 Cum of water is allotted from the Mahanadhi river. 5.?Power Evacuation- An Agreement has also been entered into with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited [PGCIL] for evacuation of Power. It is proposed to evacuate the power generated from the proposed 2x800 MW power plant through 400 kV /220 kV/132 kV lines 6.?PPA- initialed Power Purchase Agreement with DISCOMs of the State of Karnataka and with Chhattisgarh State Power Trading Company Ltd. 7.?MoEF clearance- for the project is pending on account of non-allocation of coal for the project. 8.?COAL ALLOCATION- •?Long Term Coal Linkage application was submitted to the Ministry of Coal on 13.05.2009, for which coal linkage is yet to be allocated. •?Further, in response to the Notification dated 31.12.2012 issued by the Ministry of Coal for allocation blocks under Rule 4 of the Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mines Rules, 2012 KPCL had submitted an application for allotment of BHALUMUDA Coal Block and also submitted application for allotment of ‘Gidhmuri and Paturia’ and ‘Gare Palma I’ for allotment under Coal Mines [Special Provisions], Second Ordinance, 2014 on 27.02.2015. •?However, no Coal Block has been allocated to the above project of KPCL. •?Further, it is learnt that the following two private companies to whom the coal linkage was sanctioned are not going ahead with establishing coal based TPP’s and some of the coal blocks and coal linkages identified nearer to the project •?Deerubai Power Generation Company at Korba[ 1320 MW ] for which coal linkage was allocated from Ghevera Coal Mines of SECL in Korba District. It is learnt that the MoEF sanction given to the company has been withdrawn. •?Videocon Power Generation Company [ 1000 MW ] in Champa for which coal was already allocated from Ghevera Coal Mines of SECL in Korba District , has withdrawn voluntarily. •?During visit to the project site and information collected from chhattishgarh Govt., some of the following coal blocks located in chhattisgarhareavilable for allocation to the project. 9. CONCLUSION- KPCL should be allocated coal linkage from Ghevera Coal Mines of SECL in Korba District, since these linkages are available due to withdrawal/cancellation of project. Update as of 01.05.2020- 1. Land and water allotted . 2. Coal allocation received on 02.03.2020. 3. MoEF clearance yet to be received. Anticipated date of completion is 48 months from the issue of LoA [completion likely to be 2025-26]. Order has not been placed by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited
