The Gods and People (GaP) Project wishes to continue the thematic approach we applied successfully in the former award-winning projects submitted for the Creative Europe Programme. Description
Description | The Gods and People (GaP) Project wishes to continue the thematic approach we applied successfully in the former award-winning projects submitted for the Creative Europe Programme. In 2020 we managed to receive funding by investigating the mysterious polar light (PLB Project), in 2021 we placed women and Nature and the depth of their interconnectedness into the focus (SWAN Project), and in 2022 we reflected upon the Russian-Ukrainian war with the WaR Project. In 2023 we tried to draw our downhearted readers’ attention to the unchanging values of arts (PArt Project). Now, as existing conflicts still do not seem to ease, we lift our gaze high to spirituality, to transcendence, and allow it to form the thematic backdrop of our chosen literary pieces. We want to show that even in the deepest despair some inexplicable light might shine through, revealing the real face of good and evil. Since Polar Publishing deals exclusively with the dissemination of Northern European literature in Hungary, the ten books we wish to translate and publish will represent five Northern languages and cultures. Due to the successful PR activity of the previous years, we will be able to double the output of hard-cover books to 2000 of each title, and we also continue the e-book production to cater for Hungarian readers living abroad. We still consider it a priority to place women in the fore in terms of authors and translators, and to help young translators launch their careers. We promote environmental issues both by choosing eco-friendly paper for printing, and by emphasizing the life-sustaining force of Nature presented in the novels through various aspects of the garden symbol. With our publications we wish to contribute to the bridging, or at least to the narrowing of the gap among all the members of the created universe. GaP Project wishes to connect benevolent human communities now being drifted away from one another, or falling into disintegration. |
