Description

Description

The project involves the development of a bus rapid transit line called the Gold Line to move people between Union Station and the new Commanders stadium, connecting VRE, MARC, and Red Line users. The line will have dedicated center bus lanes and plans to expand east along Benning Road and west to Rosslyn. Rail service upgrades are also planned for the Stadium Armory metro stop, including new elevators, escalators, and an expanded mezzanine. WMATA is not recommending a new infill rail station due to high cost and complexity. The goal is to have the station upgrades and the Gold Line operational by the stadium opening in August 2030.
