Description | Gold War is a limited sports-Cold War-drama series project set in the ‘80s. Being allocated between the most significant Olympic Games’ boycotts of Moscow’80 and Los Angeles’84, this project has a strong international potential. The writers Teodora Markova, Nevena Kertova and Georgi Ivanov are among the most prominent and internationally recognized scriptwriters in Bulgaria, behind the most popular and high-scoring TV drama series among which Father’s Day, produced by AGITPROP for BNT, which was the first ever Eastern European TV series supported by Creative Europe MEDIA with selections at several forums: Venice International Film Festival, Gap Financing Market; Série Series Fontainebleau and European TV Drama Lab in Berlin. Most recently head writer Teodora Markova co-wrote also the Latvian/Polish drama series Soviet Jeans, which won Series Mania Forum Audience Award for 2024. The work on this project is a statement for an innovative product with an international creative potential. The team has researched the topic and has consulted with archives, contemporaries, books and films in order to build the characters and story in the most authentic way. The project is a co-production between Bulgaria and Lithuania, with confirmed support from Bulgarian National Film Center, as well as, European broadcasters. |
