Golden Dome missile defense program

planned

The United States is advancing the Golden Dome, a multi-layered missile defense system with four integrated layers (one in space and three on land) supported by 11 short-range missile batteries across the continental US, Alaska, and Hawaii. The system aims to provide unprecedented protection against ballistic threats, featuring space-based missile detection and tracking, interceptor missiles, advanced radar arrays, and possibly laser weapons. It includes a new missile field in the Midwest for Next Generation Interceptors built by Lockheed Martin, operating alongside existing defense systems. The project targets completion by 2028 with an estimated cost of USD 175 billion.
