Golden Dome Missile Defense System

planned

The Golden Dome is a comprehensive, space-based national missile defense shield envisioned to protect the United States from incoming nuclear missile attacks and other airborne threats such as hypersonic weapons and drones. It involves a multilayered defense architecture including satellite constellations, radars, interceptors, anti-drone systems, and possibly directed-energy weapons. The project includes a sensitive constellation of over 600 satellites for threat detection and tracking, with contracts awarded to companies like SpaceX, Anduril, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and True Anomaly.
