Golden Dome Missile Defense System

planned

The Golden Dome is a new missile defense system of the United States designed to intercept nuclear weapons, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles, and drones. It aims to establish a network of satellites capable of detecting, tracking, and potentially intercepting incoming missile threats. The project includes four ground-based Aegis Ashore missile defense complexes across the continental US, each equipped with 48 SM-3 Block IIA interceptor missiles. The space-based interceptor layer accounts for a significant portion of the acquisition costs.
