Golden Pass LNG Project

Golden Pass LNG is a liquefied natural gas export facility located in Sabine Pass, Texas. It is a joint venture between QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil, consisting of three liquefaction trains with a nominal capacity of approximately 18 million metric tons per annum when fully operational. The project is part of QatarEnergy's $20 billion investment strategy in the U.S. energy sector and complements its global LNG portfolio expansion alongside the North Field Expansion project in Qatar. The project faced construction delays and cost overruns, including a major setback in 2024 when the lead contractor filed for bankruptcy. The first liquefaction train has achieved first production, transitioning the facility from a receiving terminal to a major export hub. The other two trains are expected to come online in late 2026 and 2027.
