The project began construction in 2019 and faced several setbacks including contractor bankruptcy and cost overruns. Train 1 is 99% complete with initial commercial shipments expected in Q2 2026. The project aims for a total capacity of 18 million tons per year with Trains 2 and 3 scheduled for fall 2026 and early 2027 respectively. The project is a joint venture between QatarEnergy and Exxon, with construction responsibilities transferred to Chiyoda and McDermott after the bankruptcy of Zachry Group. |
