Description | The Golden Plains wind farm is the biggest wind farm in Australia and the southern hemisphere, with a capacity of 1.33 GW. It consists of 215 Enventus V162-6.2 MW turbines supplied by Vestas. The project is expected to deliver around 9% of Victoria's energy needs. It is built by Portugal-based TagEnergy and is notable for starting construction before securing long-term off-take agreements. The project is currently generating up to 1.1 GW and is completing commissioning of its 577 MW second stage. TagEnergy is also building a 150 MW, 600 MWh battery energy storage system at the site with a long-term contract with Snowy Hydro. |
