Description | Washington EDF Renewable Energy is planning to construct the Goldendale Pumped Storage Project. The project entails building two reservoirs—a lower reservoir located 8 miles south of Goldendale near the Columbia River and an upper reservoir on a bluff 2,400 ft above it—and an underground pipeline connecting the two, plus a pump station and three turbines. It will employ energy generated by wind turbines to pump the water uphill. Its generating capacity will be 1,200 MW. Rye Development LLC has been selected as the designer. The project is valued at between $800 million and $900 million. |
