Adapted from Tom Gauld's famous graphic novel, the 3D animated feature film project Goliath & me aims to unfold the story's full narrative and visual potential by bringing it to the big screen. The filmmakers Michelle and Uri Kranot have an original vision that gives the project all its strength: they tell the story of a Goliath removed from the biblical myth, more gentle than warlike, more misunderstood than belligerent, and above all, aspiring to peace rather than combat. This new interpretation of the legend is absolutely captivating, shedding new light on the story. Contrasting with Goliath's stoic persona is his young shield-bearer, Asher. Asher is trapped in an indoctrinating narrative bidding him to dream of martyrdom. He follows Goliath but things do not turn out as he expected. Together they form a dynamic duo, both funny and touching. This adaptation re-interprets one of the most well-known biblical myths by offering powerful critique of totalitarianism and ideological manipulation. Coated with the humor and sensitivity of the experienced animation filmmakers, Goliath & me will be a story both intimate and heartfelt, philosophical and reflective, all the while resonating with current times and thereby making the film universally accessible. To highlight this fabulous tale, the film will offer a unique visual experience, thanks to an original graphic style and 3D animation that will appeal to family audience, from the age of seven and up. The project, initiated by FLORÉAL in France, follows a fruitful collaboration with the Kranot. It is co-produced by SPARRE PRODUCTION in Denmark, country of residence of the filmmakers. Goliath & me will be available in three languages. In perfect resonance with the DNA of our production structures, this feature-length film celebrates the transformative power of art, which converts historical narratives into engines of social transformation and fosters dialogue and empathy on a global scale.
