Planned

The GEGHA project is an integrated solar energy to low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia operation located adjacent to Sundown's Wathagar cotton ginning facility near Moree. It will produce up to 4500 tonnes of low-carbon ammonia annually, displacing high-carbon fossil fuel-based nitrogen fertilisers and removing up to 17,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions each year. The facility will also supply ar

Description

Description

The GEGHA project is an integrated solar energy to low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia operation located adjacent to Sundown's Wathagar cotton ginning facility near Moree. It will produce up to 4500 tonnes of low-carbon ammonia annually, displacing high-carbon fossil fuel-based nitrogen fertilisers and removing up to 17,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions each year. The facility will also supply around 224 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum for direct use, supporting decarbonisation in agriculture and heavy-vehicle refuelling. The project includes 36MW solar generation capacity, 15MW electrolysis for hydrogen production, a 16t/day ammonia plant, and storage facilities for ammonia and hydrogen. It is a scalable and repeatable model for green fertiliser production in regional Australia.
