The project comprises the construction of a data center and a cloud region in Elmina Business Park in Greater Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The sponsor is Google LLC, which will invest $2 billion in the project, announced May 30th, 2024. The project is set to break ground in Q2 2024, for a 2026 completion. The project will advance the digital ambitions outlined in Malaysia’s Government New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and its its 'Cloud First Policy’. Google and the Government of Malaysia entered into a strategic collaboration in November 2023 to create growth opportunities in the country using AI and cloud technologies. This latest investment is hoped to support more than $3.2bn in contributions to Malaysia's GDP and will bring 26,500 jobs to the area by 2030. https://www.googlecloudpresscorner.com/2024-05-30-Advancing-Malaysia-Together-Google-Announces-US-2-Billion-Investment-in-Malaysia,-Including-First-Google-Data-Center-and-Google-Cloud-Region ; https://www.techwrix.com/google-invests-us2-billion-in-malaysias-first-data-center-and-cloud-region/#google_vignette https://www.googlecloudpresscorner.com/2024-05-30-Advancing-Malaysia-Together-Google-Announces-US-2-Billion-Investment-in-Malaysia,-Including-First-Google-Data-Center-and-Google-Cloud-Region ; https://www.techwrix.com/google-invests-us2-billion-in-malaysias-first-data-center-and-cloud-region/#google_vignette
