Google Data Center Water Supply Infrastructure in Botetourt County

planned

Google is building a new data center at the Botetourt Center at Greenfield, which could use up to 8 million gallons of water a day. The Western Virginia Water Authority is planning to supply water to the data center initially from the Carvins Cove Reservoir and is conducting studies to determine the best option for building a new water source to support future growth. The Authority has agreements with Botetourt County to fund these studies and with Google requiring the company to pay for its own water supply infrastructure to the data center.
