Information Department of water resources-MH - II has come up with Gosikhurd Project with a ticket size of 12770.1 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves [i] 11360 m long Roller filled earthen dam and 773.90 m long broad crested ogee shaped spill way with 33 number radial gates. [ii] Left and Right bank canals with 4 foreshore lifts are provided from the main reservoir. The Right bank canal 99.51 km. long is designed to carry surplus monsoon waters of the Gosikhurd Reservoir to augment the existing Asolamendha tank command in Chandrapur district and remodeling the entire canal system of Asolamendha Tank to augment irrigation from 9500 ha. to 54,879 ha. In addition to the Gosikhrud irrigable area of 71810 ha. The left bank canal, 23 km. long is designed to irrigate an area of 31577 ha. [iii]Total irrigable command under this project will be 1,90,000 ha. With annual irrigation potential of 2,50,800 ha. The current status of the project is under construction and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Gosikhurd Project was declared as National Project in 2008. The project was included under Centrally Sponsored Scheme, PMKSY-AIBP in 2016 for funding and early completion.
