Description
Description | The objectives of the proposed module are three-fold: a) to analyze the environmental governance of the European Union (EU) and its impact in regional and global contexts, b) to examine socio-environmental controversies related to the MERCOSUR-EU free trade agreement, to encourage critical reflection on possible improvements in environmental governance mechanisms, and c) to propose cooperation actions aimed at strengthening EU public diplomacy. These actions seek to promote a collaborative and interdisciplinary educational approach based on the principles of sustainability. The project is aimed at a broad range of beneficiaries, including secondary, pre-university, university, and postgraduate students, government agencies, thematic and public policy networks, (businesses) companies, chambers of commerce, environmental organizations, labor unions, mass media (outlets), and the general public. During the project's implementation period, it is estimated that between 300 and 350 people will directly benefit from the proposed activities and outcomes. The expected results include a significant improvement in the understanding of environmental governance systems at both global and regional levels, as well as a critical evaluation of the mechanisms of the MERCOSUR-EU agreement regarding sustainability, identifying key challenges and opportunities. The module seeks to stimulate critical debates on the limitations of environmental governance, encourage participants’ reflection, and generate strategic recommendations and actions to promote regional and international cooperation in sustainability. |
