Description | The Governments of Thailand and Japan have launched a new energy policy and cooperation initiatives to promote decarbonization in both the countries, with the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. A comprehensive long-term programme, as well as joint projects with a focus on green technology and human resources, will be developed as part of the dialogue framework to boost investment in the energy industry. This move is in line with the Government of Japan’s Asia Energy Transition Initiative (AETI), under which it will extend USD10 billion in financial assistance to Thailand and other ASEAN member states to invest in renewable energy (RE), energy efficiency, LNG, and other clean projects. |
