Description
Description | The COP-GPT project aims to develop an AI-driven, real-time Common Operational Picture (COP) for modern military operations, integrating multi-domain autonomous Unmanned Systems (UxS) swarms capable of independent deployment and resilient to electronic warfare. COP-GPT leverages AI, machine vision, Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced UxS platforms to enable seamless human-machine teaming (HMT), allowing operators to issue high-level commands through natural language, reducing cognitive load and training requirements. COP-GPT addresses critical operational challenges in contested environments, such as GNSS-independent navigation, resilience to jamming and spoofing, and processing large volumes of heterogeneous data in real-time. The system combines multi-domain UxS swarming with 3D semantic mapping to create an integrated operational picture, giving users accurate situational awareness and decision-making support in GNSS-denied or communications-limited (DDIL) conditions. Key innovations include a self-deploying, autonomous Launch and Recovery System (LRS) for unmanned aerial systems, resilient communication solutions, and edge computing for autonomous data fusion at the tactical edge. Led by a consortium of European SMEs, COP-GPT enhances European defence autonomy by reducing dependence on non-EU technologies, while also promoting interoperability and modularity. This solution offers strategic advantages by streamlining data integration across domains, reducing operator workloads, and enabling adaptive, autonomous mission planning. COP-GPT’s capabilities provide a significant leap in situational awareness, decision speed, and operational resilience, setting a new standard in autonomous defence systems for the tactical battlefield. |
