Description
Description | The aim of the project is the permanent preservation of the remains of the former settlement Grafenried as well as the establishment of a nature trail in order to make the place symbolic for the common history permanently accessible and experience. The aim is to maintain a unique German-Czech meeting place for both tourists and the young generation and strengthen the regional identity. As a historical “learning place”, meetings of dt-cz student groups and students are also to be initialised here. The project will include the following actions: — Establishment of a dt-cz control group under cz management (on cz page: CHKO Český les, municipality of Nemanice, cz archaeologists — on the dt DT Volunteer, Action Alliance Čerchov plus/City of Waldmünchen, dt Nature Park) for cross-border coordination — Develop reports of findings for all existing buildings, including the proposal for subsequent measures in cooperation with the West Bohemian Museum Pilsen. — Develop a development concept on the basis of the above-mentioned findings reports with a detailed description of all measures to secure the exposed ruins, protection against erosion/decasion, development of an el. 3D model of the former village, planning of access routes, signage, integration into the cross-border network of paths, securing the found objects, etc. — Implementation of the proposed measures. — Exposing and documenting the medieval glassworks in cooperation with the Westb. Museum. — Design and construction of a pavilion in uniform design with other planned roofs, both for protection purposes for exposed buildings (e.g. parts of the brewery) as well as as an information point/residence for visitors and tourists. — Production and installation of a sculpture replica (St. Johannes Nepomuk) for preserved original pedestals on former village square. — cross-border tourist application (dt-cz flyer) coordinated via the House of Nature in Klenčí. — DT-cz student and student meetings. — Project management — Personnel for project support. Grafenried offers like no other “disappeared village” in the dt-cz border area a plastic experience of common history — from the Middle Ages to the time of the Cold War and afterwards. Thanks to the work of volunteers, some buildings (e.g. church, brewery, inn) have been exposed before the war, allowing a unique immediate idea of everyday life. In the project, representatives of the former dt home community work very actively, which is of great importance as a sign of reconciliation and international understanding. Grafenried has the potential to act both as a place dt-cz encounter and as an interesting tourist destination in the Bohemian Forest in the future. |
