The Grand Egyptian Museum is a $1 billion mammoth facility located just outside Cairo next to the Giza Pyramids. It is poised to become the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization with over 50,000 artifacts detailing life in ancient Egypt. The museum includes 24,000 square meters of permanent exhibition space, a children’s museum, conference and educational facilities, a commercial area, and a large conservation center. It features immersive galleries, precision lighting, virtual-reality exhibits, and a live conservation lab. The museum's construction began in 2005, faced delays including a three-year halt during political turmoil, and was finally completed with major financial and technical support from Japan. The opening ceremony was held with attendance from world leaders, and the museum aims to boost Egypt's tourism sector and economy.
