The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is Africa's largest hydroelectric project built on the Blue Nile River in Ethiopia. It has a power capacity of 5,150–6,450 MW and serves as a symbol of national development and regional energy trade. The dam is approximately 170 meters high and 2 kilometers long, with a reservoir capacity of 74 billion cubic meters, flooding about 1,874 square kilometers.
