Description | The Village of Grand Manan has an existing airport with a 3000-foot runway that is over 30 years old; the integrity of the asphalt and runway are now compromised and will be unserviceable in the very near future. The Village of Grand Manan is a remote Island community with a population of approximately 2300 people, whereas the Island relies heavily on it’s airport for emergency evacuations and medevac flights to the nearest regional health authority. This project includes works to resurface the existing asphalt runway, as well as subsequent rehabilitation of the pavement structure. Resurfacing of the existing runway and taxiway will help to bring it back up to a safe standard for another 30 years. |
