Description | 59.8MW Grassridge Wind Farm project reached financial closure in May 2013. This BOO project worth of USD 109.4 million would involve the development of a wind farm in the west of the town of Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape Province of the Republic of South Africa. This wind farm consists of 20 Vestas V-112 3 MW wind turbines. The wind project would produce enough electricity equivalent to the yearly consumption of about 40,000 households with expected operation in 2015. The project is a part of Round 2 of the South African Department of Energy's renewable energy independent power producer procurement program (REIPP) and the wind farm would be connected to the Eskom grid through a 132 kV power line and new on-site substation under the agreement of 20 years. |
