Gravity Nuclear Reactor
Sector: Nuclear • Location: Parsons, Kansas, United States
Source: Tomorrow's World Today
The Gravity Nuclear Reactor project by Deep Fission aims to safely operate small modular nuclear reactors a mile underground by adapting pressurized water reactor technology for a deep borehole. The system uses the pressure from a mile-long column of water for operating pressure and cooling, transferring heat through a closed loop to a heat exchanger and then to the surface to generate electricity

Description
Description | The Gravity Nuclear Reactor project by Deep Fission aims to safely operate small modular nuclear reactors a mile underground by adapting pressurized water reactor technology for a deep borehole. The system uses the pressure from a mile-long column of water for operating pressure and cooling, transferring heat through a closed loop to a heat exchanger and then to the surface to generate electricity. The project is currently testing a prototype reactor canister and preparing for a large drilling program and full-scale demonstration borehole. |
