Description | A Philadelphia City Council committee will hold public hearings into the deadly parking garage collapse in the city's Grays Ferry neighborhood. The hearings aim to determine the cause of the collapse and prevent similar accidents in the future. The collapse involved the roof section of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia's garage, which fell and triggered a collapse across all seven levels. Three workers were killed, and the structure had to be demolished before the remains of two workers could be recovered. PreCast Services Incorporated, a subcontractor, was installing precast concrete floor decking and roof segments manufactured off-site. An investigation will determine if the stairs were built to specifications by engineers and other professionals. |
