Description
Description | Atlas Salt is developing the Great Atlantic Salt Project in Newfoundland, Canada, which is North America's first new salt mine in nearly 30 years. The project targets a nameplate production capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to serve the import-dependent eastern seaboard de-icing market. The project benefits from a shallow, high-purity salt deposit, established infrastructure, and strategic location providing logistics advantages. The updated feasibility study shows robust economics with an after-tax NPV8 of $920 million, IRR of 21.3%, and average annual post-tax cash flow of $188 million over a 24.3-year mine life. The project has completed environmental assessment, secured strategic partnerships, and is progressing toward production estimated by 2030. |
