Great Atlantic Salt Project

Atlas Salt is developing the Great Atlantic Salt Project on Newfoundland’s west coast with a completed feasibility study, environmental approval, and early works permits in hand. The project targets low-cost production of de-icing salt for Ontario, New York, and the broader North American market. It is designed to operate 100 percent battery electric, targeting near-zero greenhouse gas emissions during production. The underground mine is shallow and benefits from exceptionally high grade material of approximately 96 percent salt, requiring minimal processing. The process involves crushing, screening, conveying to ship, and delivering directly to customers, supporting competitive operating costs and efficient logistics to key markets in Eastern Canada and the U.S. Northeast.
