Great Nicobar Mega Infrastructure Project

A mega infrastructure project in Great Nicobar aimed at transforming the island into a major hub of maritime and air connectivity in the Indian Ocean Region. The project includes an international container transshipment terminal, a greenfield international airport, a 450 MVA gas- and solar-based power plant, and a township over 16 sq km. It involves diversion of lakhs of trees and has raised concerns about ecological and humanitarian impacts, including displacement of tribal communities and threats to endangered species.
