Description | The Great Nicobar Project is a multi-component infrastructure initiative conceptualised by NITI Aayog and implemented by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited. It includes an international container transhipment terminal at Galathea Bay, a greenfield airport for civilian and defence use, an integrated township, and a power generation facility focusing on renewable energy. The project spans approximately 166 square kilometres and involves significant forest land diversion, with environmental clearances and mitigation measures in place. |
