Description
Description | Biogas is a crucial sustainable energy source for the future, consisting of slurry and organic waste that is converted through biogas plants into an energy source. The Greater Bio project is a Danish-Swedish collaboration that aims to develop a sustainable bioeconomy in relation to both resource utilisation and energy production in the Greater Copenhagen area. The Greater Bio project is in line with the programme’s focus area, Green Economy. The overall goal of the project is to optimise the utilisation of biomass through knowledge sharing between municipalities actively working with the bioeconomy. Greater Bio aims to develop a sustainable bioeconomy in relation to both resource utilisation and energy production in Greater Copenhagen. During the project period, Greater Bio will increase the collection and use of biomass that is sustainable, economical and energy-saving as well as increase the production of biogas from new biomass for the best possible use. Greater Bio will also promote the best use of fertiliser residue after the biogas plant, so that the fertiliser part can achieve higher value and thereby improve the production of biogas production. Strong networking and sustainable solutions. Greater Bio works with seven cases to achieve their overall goals. The first case aims to establish a network among the participating municipalities; Trelleborg, Bornholm, Odsherred and Lejre to share experiences and find the right solutions. From case 2 to 7, the project works with everything from supporting local employment and job creation to examining when it makes the best sense to convert into biochar rather than biogas. The project will focus on municipal areas where today grass is mowed without collecting it. Then the project wants to assess and test how the collected grass can best be used for feed, biogas or protein extraction. |
