Description

Description

The Greater South East Irrigation Scheme (GSEIS) business case investigated the amalgamation and expansion of three existing Tasmanian irrigation schemes (South East Irrigation Scheme 1 – 3) into one interconnected scheme supplied by Lake Meadowbank. The three existing irrigation schemes are fully allocated and lack the capacity to cater for growth in the region. If constructed, the GSEIS would increase reliability of supply and support significant growth to one of the driest areas in Tasmania. It would service existing and additional demand, including a broad range of agricultural production, increase delivery efficiency and decrease reliance on the use of urban water sources. The business case was completed in November 2023.
